STINA’S MESSAGE

On Sunday after the service, although we did not have a quorum for having a Bishop’s Committee meeting, I informed the congregation that I will be retiring, effective the end of April. This is a very difficult decision to make, because I love being at SKK so much. However, things change, and we have to move on. What has changed is that Sue has retired from St. Edmunds, and because our house is partly owned by the diocese, when she is no longer working at St Edmunds, the contract says that we must sell the house and pay the diocese their share of the proceeds. Because of the market in the Bay area, we cannot afford to stay here, and we will be moving to western Washington, north and west of Seattle, on the peninsula.

I want to take this opportunity to say thank you from the very depths of my heart for all of the love, care and concern you have shown me in these past five years. It has been a very healing time for me. I have learned a lot from you, and I hope I have fulfilled your desires during my tenure.

I will be working with everyone in leadership during the transition time to make this as smooth as possible. Please pray for me, and I will be praying for you, during this transition time.

ITEMS FROM THE ANNUAL MEETING

Our contract to put in new energy-efficient windows on the top floor is almost complete. The windows are great. They keep in the heat and keep out the noise. It is amazing – and they look so much like the originals that no one notices!

We discussed the Music Festival at the Annual Meeting, and then took a vote. The answer was clear that we have done the Festival for 15 years, and that is enough. We will not do it again.

The EAM Convocation will be in Korea this year, Sept 29-Oct 4, and the Japanese Convocation will meet after that in Japan from Oct 5-9. Anyone interested in going should contact Stina or Gordon immediately. We have added money to the budget to help with this expense.

Gordon and Myrna agreed to stay on as Senior and Junior Wardens, respectively. We also had volunteers who will serve as delegates to Deanery and Diocesan Convention.
